Iris Global is a nonprofit organization dedicated to Christian ministry and humanitarian aid. Founded in 1980 by Rolland and Heidi Baker, our guiding mandate is to join in the worldwide fulfillment of the two greatest Christian commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might,” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In seeking to obey these commands we place passionate emphasis on service to the poor, the abandoned, and the forgotten.
After twelve years of aid and evangelism in Indonesia, Hong Kong, and England, Iris Global relocated to its current center of operations in Mozambique. Initially focused on the care of orphaned and abandoned children, Iris Global’s activities have expanded to encompass education, healthcare, nutrition, wells, occupational training, and ministry through some five thousand Mozambican churches. Additional branches of Iris Global have grown out to incorporate more than ten thousand congregations operating in twenty-two nations, each undertaking similar efforts across a wide range of cultures and material conditions.
Wherever we go, our goal is to make the love of God tangible for those in the deepest spiritual and material distress. Our calling leads us into some of the most desperate economic and spiritual circumstances on Earth — places where “love” must mean food for the hungry, healing for the sick, freedom for captives, and family for orphans. Each day we pray for grace to address these needs, and for a gift greater still: to be vessels of the Holy Spirit, so that in sharing His life we might make His love incarnate for a hurting world.
